My whole life has been spent as a competitive athlete (Softball, Basketball, Swimming, Triathlon) but also as a self-proclaimed nerd.
So, when I was introduced to CrossFit in 2008, the definition “constantly varied, multifunctional fitness done at high intensity over broad time and modal domains” appealed to both personas. I had just had major knee surgery so the first year of CrossFit was very basic but I loved studying everything about it; so much so, I completed the CrossFit Level 1 certification in December 2009.
I can truly say that I have had the time of my life instructing clients over the past few years. Coaching is in my blood and outside of CrossFit have had experience coaching two 16U girls fast pitch softball teams. In addition to class instruction, over the past year, I have challenged myself mentally to prepare individuals to compete in competitions.
I am working to continue to broaden my knowledge base over the next year and expand CrossFit 45 North’s competitive program. Working with people to make them better, whether it is physically or mentally, has become a huge passion for me. I love CrossFit because it truly is life changing. It not only opens the door to a pathway to fitness but is also the conduit for forming a strong community; nowhere else have I found such a bond with people of all walks of life and I would not trade it for anything.
I am so blessed to have a job that allows me to help people get and stay fit. I am just as lucky to work in an environment where, we as coaches, can learn from each other and grow.
It only took one CrossFit class and I was hooked. Immediately after, I drove to the “Globo gym” that I was a member of and cancelled my membership. I haven’t been back since!
I have two kids, a husband and another full-time job. I am busy and I still am able to have a “no excuses” attitude when it comes to training. I hope that attitude wears off on others that I am able to train! Any spare time I have, you will most likely find me at CrossFit 45 North. I love it here! How could you not?
J. Ruh, in a nutshell:
I love my family. I love my friends. I love CrossFit and competing. I love bacon. I love blue mountains and finally, I love my job and being a positive influence daily!
I fell in love with CrossFit in 2010. Not only did it change my perception of fitness, but it gave me many great friendships. Instead of exercising to be skinny, I now exercise to be better at life!
In 2011, I decided to quit my stressful corporate job and get certified as a personal trainer. I love helping people build confidence in themselves as they learn new skills and exceed their goals. The following year, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 and started teaching the On-Ramp Program for new CrossFit members. A lot of people can be intimidated by CrossFit, so I love showing them that it can be modified for any fitness level.
I am excited to be a part of the wonderful community at CrossFit 45 North. My goal is to continue to learn and help others achieve their goals.
Greg Casey has been a part of CrossFit 45 North since he started as a Personal Trainer in June of 2014. With his amazing attitude and ability to coach clients, we brought him on as a CrossFit Coach in the fall of 2015.
Greg creates a welcoming community for all of our members at CrossFit 45 North and has really brought another great dynamic to our team of coaches.
I have watched CrossFit transform peoples lives, for the better, for many years now. While I am not a coach at CrossFit 45 North, I am huge believer in CrossFit and what it does for an individual’s mind, body and soul.
My full time job is a nurse. Working in healthcare, I am so happy and excited to be part owner of something that helps people reach their goals of personal health in so many different aspects.
I feel privileged to be able to work with our coaches who not only bring a fun and positive atmosphere to CrossFit 45 North, but they help to inspire people everyday.
